TRAINING STARTS TODAY!

15 Dec

Well,

After the vacation and the time “off” due to my little knee incident, I am officially back on track and VERY happy to begin training again. Slow, but training!

AND thanks to some encouragement (he doesn’t know it) from another blogger @ All Seasons Cyclist, I rode in the rain. It was cold, wet and a bit windy at times, but I figured if this guy can ride in the winters around Lake Michigan, then SURELY I can ride in the rain in Phoenix! Okay, it was only an hour.

So, here’s what I’m thinking as a schedule for racing next year: Leadman-Marquee Tri in Tempe. Honu 70.3 in Waikaloa, and if I’m lucky enough to be chosen: KONA in October. So, the chances of the latter happening are slim. Any suggestions for an early fall/late summer long ¬†distance triathlon? Preferably in North America.¬†

Let the voting begin!

Thanks!Image

A Different view of Maui

A Different view of Maui

We’ve been here a week tomorrow. It has been a mostly relaxing vacation highlighted by our friends making each day a little more memorable.
Today was exceptionally delightfull when we took a trip up country to visit a friend of a friend who is now the executive chef at Kula Lodge in, well, Kula. It’s on the way to Haleakala. So if you head up or down from that lovely look out, stop by. The food was absolutely unbelievable! The service was exceptional and the views incredible.
This particular picture was taken just before sunset. I was facing west and there is a large amount of cloud cover as well as Vog, so the tree looks almost winterish against the background of filtered sun shining down on the ocean in the background. Not what one would expect of Maui. I think that’s why I like it so much.
After three trips here, I am just now beginning to understand what they mean by “Magical Maui”. It is an absolutely gorgeous land!
